Whimsy Jewellery Design was founded in 2007 by Tracy Stobart May, a self- taught jewellery designer who began by making simple jewellery to sell at dog rescue events.That gave way to hours of daily study/ practice and then a job at a bead store (That Bead Lady), where the learning curve was intense!
Tracy endeavours to create one of a kind jewellery that reflects her fancy at that moment, be it in tradition, nature, odd juxtapositions.... or whatever story , song or poem is running through her mind.
Not a whimsy, however, is her commitment to using materials of the finest quality (and preferably fair trade): Swarovski crystal, Czech glass, semi-precious stones, pure and sterling silver ,gold fill, vintage materials, lead / nickel- free pewter and brass.Prices are kept as low as possible as Tracy believes that everyone needs pretties in their lives!
Tracy lives in the beautiful town of Uxbridge, Ontario, about 45 minutes north of Toronto, with her husband of 30 years , Ian, 2 small dogs,( one of which survived severe abuse resulting in the loss of a leg) and , on weekends now and then, her son, Geoffrey. She is secretary/treasurer of the Uxbridge Arts Association.
